DID YOU KNOW...
POTENTIALLY YOUR HORSES INSURANCE MAY COVER PEMF THERAPY UNDER COMPLEMETARY TREATMENT
What is PEMF?
PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) therapy involves applying electromagnetic fields to the animals body to stimulate cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain, promoting overall well-being and performance.
PEMF therapy is completely safe, gentle and non invasive. It is found to be extremely relaxing and enjoyable for both the mind and body.
It is widely used along side veterinary treatment to encourage recovery.
How Does PEMF Work?
The cells in the body rely on electrically charged particles to manage communications within the body and allow them to function correctly.
When damaged by illness, stress or even just general deterioration from aging, the cells balance is disrupted and the cell can no longer create enough energy to function properly.
PEMF therapy uses the electromagnetic signals to stimulate the cells and 'recharge' them to help restore their natural balance. This helps the cells to work more efficiently.
What benefits have been seen with PEMF Therapy?
There are many specific benefits to the body from applying PEMF Therapy, these can include:
Reduced pain and inflammation
Relaxing Muscles
Improved Mobility and Flexibility
Injury Prevention
Improved energy, circulation, blood and tissue oxygenation.
Increase in nutrient uptake, as well as cellular detoxification and regeneration.
General balancing of the immune system.
Accelerated repair of bone and soft tissue damage.
Who can have PEMF?
Any animal can have PEMF therapy sessions. PEMFT is a holistic treatment that can be beneficial for a range of animals.
It can be used for injury recovery or even for just general wellness and muscle relaxation.
If being used alongside vet treatment for injury, then veterinary referral is needed to authorise the therapy.
We at J Equine provide you with a form to give to your vet for authorisation prior to the first appointment.
What happens in an appointment?
Kirsty will apply the PEMF system attachments to various parts of your horses body.
When having treatment, the whole body is done every time, not just one area of interest. Along with the PEMF machine, there is the option if needed for the use of a cold laser to be applied to the area of treatment. Cold laser therapy (also known as Low level laser therapy - LLLT) is the use of a low level infrared light to stimulate and trigger changes within the cells. The use of both PEMF and the LLLT stimulate the cells in different ways but are asking for the same outcome. By using both, it increases the effectiveness of the therapy.
In total the appointments can take up to around 1hr. Once completed, the animals can continue their normal routine with no down time.
Following completion of the session, and form will be completed with information regarding the session for your own records. These can also be sent to your vet if the appointment is following up treatment for an injury.
In regards to intervals for further sessions, for injury these are assessed at first session and a plan will be made for going forward.
For general well being sessions, these are usually recommended to be done around once a month.
